Good Advice for The Summertime

Good Advice for The Summertime

Since it appears that the last gasps of winter weather are behind us, it’s time to start thinking about all those great summer memories to be had. Along the way, it’s also important to keep in mind some good advice so that we’re in our best condition possible to enjoy it all.

There’s a time to get out and see and do, but be sure to allow yourself time to get some solid, quality rest. Sleeping well can go a long way toward protecting your mental and physical health and your quality of life. Even a mid-day power nap can make a big difference in your energy level.

What you eat makes a big difference in how you feel. It’s easy to hit the drive-thru but there are many benefits to eating “off the farm” and there’s sure to be a local farmer’s market with fresh fruits and vegetables available. Blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries are not only loaded with antioxidants, which may help prevent damage to tissues and reduce the risks of age-related illnesses, but they're also rich in fiber which helps keep cholesterol low and may even help prevent some cancers. Lean meats are also recommended and are delicious right off the grill.

Staying cool in the shade is always a good idea but let’s be honest: the summer months are not for spending a lot of time indoors. Whether you enjoy a daily walk or laying out to acquire that deep tan, protect your skin from sun damage with an appropriate SPF-level sunscreen. Red is for lobsters, not your skin.

Hydration can never be overstated. Eight to ten glasses of water a day are recommended to keep your bones and muscles healthy and to help prevent illness. You can also infuse water with fruits like blueberries, kiwi, oranges, and more for a wider range of sweetness and flavor without resorting to sodas and processed beverages. If you are a soft drink fan, keep them to a minimum. Your body doesn’t need the processed sugar, artificial sweeteners, or food dyes.

Of course, you can also hydrate your skin with Jason International’s MicroSilk® technology. Our patented process creates literally billions of micro-bubbles that work to enhance and improve your skin’s health and vitality. Together, the microbubbles form a cloud of oxygen in your bath and give you a delightful, effervescent sensation and leave behind moisture that plumps your skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.  Learn more about the MicroSilk® experience here!
